Where were you in ’92? If your answer includes the dance floor, then chances are you heard X-Press 2’s Muzik Xpress over the course of a few late nights. Twenty years later and the classic is getting a re-release on Skint Records, headed up by a burning techno remix from Nicole Moudaber. The rising UK producer/DJ has had a monster 2012, playing weekly parties at Carl Cox’s Space Ibiza and winning an IDMA for Best Techno/Minimal Track for her remix of Cox’s Chemistry. Now get a taste of just how far down the rabbit hole her sets get.
Moudaber’s been using this weapon in her sets since 2008, but now we finally get our hands on the beast. She’s taken the original house bassline and twisted it into her driving techno sound, stacking it with the same eerie synths and vocal stabs that made the ’92 version so lauded.
