It’s extremely unusual for me to not even know where to begin when writing up a post. Surprised? You won’t be after listening to these tracks.
The list of reasons for my being speechless is quite lengthy, so let’s begin unraveling. Firstly, I have never heard of Terravita, the group behind the self-titled EP both of these tracks are featured on. Thank you, internet–whatever would we do without you? Next up, Terravita is from Boston, Massachusetts. I can definitely say I’m proud that these guys are part of the American representation in EDM-land and I think you’ll agree. But by far the most surprising aspect is in the music. Ever heard a track that goes from house to dubstep to drum’n’bass with maybe even a hint of drumstep? Yeah, that’s right–me neither. Well wait no longer, because Whatever You Want, featuring Hot Pink Delorean (aka Terravita’s side project), is one of the most standout cross-genre tracks of the year.
So now that you’ve undoubtedly been sold on these guys, let’s try one more out. And The Beat Goes On is another great success and also included on the same EP. I’ll never forget the first time I heard the drumstep sound–way back on Witchcraft by Pendulum. Terravita have nailed the sound and have thrown in a little synth melody coupled with some great sampling to top things off. If this doesn’t leave you going “humina humina,” I don’t know what will. Proto out.
