Last week, LessThan3 reported that evidence was uncovered suggesting 64-year old billionaire Robert F.X. Sillerman and his company, SFX Entertainment, was in the process of purchasing a large stake in Beatport, the premiere electronic music marketplace.
On Tuesday, more startling evidence was discovered that strengthened speculation of a SFX-Beatport deal, and revealed that Sillerman is also in negotiation to partner with or acquire Q-Dance, Electric Forest, React Presents and Clubtix.
Q-dance is a Dutch hardcore event organizer that set foot in America for the first time last year when it hosted a stage at Insomniac’s Electric Daisy Carnival. Electric Forest is an annual festival developed and managed by Insomniac that takes place in Michigan. React Presents is a dance music event producer based out of Chicago that’s responsible for the Spring Awakening Music Festival, North Coast Music Festival, and the Summer Set & Camping Music Festival. They also operate The MID nightclub and function as talent buyers for Chicago’s Congress Theatre. Clubtix is an online ticketing service focused on EDM events.
GenXGlow uncovered this latest revelation when they viewed the public source code for SFX’s website, sfxii.com. The part of the source code that’s referred to was made invisible for standard viewing. The code, which can be viewed in full here, contained the following website links:

While Beatport was not referenced to directly in the code, GenXGlow discovered that SFX was hosting an image of Beatport’s logo in the same location that it was hosting all of the logos in the above-mentioned links.
This discovery indicates the rapid speed at which Robert Sillerman is subjugating the American dance music industry. With evidence pointed towards the acquisition of React Presents and Electric Forest, Sillerman & SFX now have considerable control over the production of dance music festivals in the midwest. A possible deal with Q-Dance reflects SFX’s desire to have control over the import of any foreign dance event brand into the United States, as ID&T has announced that SFX will be involved with the production of Sensation and Tomorrowland in North America. It’s also interesting that the evidence suggests a SFX-Electric Forest deal as there has been speculation that SFX is looking to acquire the producer of Electric Forest, Insomniac.
It’s clear that Robert Sillerman will stop at nothing to create his very own electronic music megacorporation. Only time will tell what effect this will have on our beloved dance industry. Be sure to check back with LessThan3 as this story develops.
Note: LessThan3 confirmed the existence of the code mentioned above. However, shortly after GenXGlow published the story, the code was deleted from the public SFX website source code. Fortunately, if you want to view the code yourself, an archived page can be found here. The code can be found in the frame source.
