How bout some good old-fashioned electro that doesn’t sound like a trumpet having a seizure? Well, I proudly present to you Clouds, an electro DJ on Turbo Recordings. His Numbers EP has been getting a whole lot of attention in the electro circuit since its release, boasting support from big names like Boys Noize, Fake Blood, Tiga, Proxy, and Annie Mac. This EP is a welcomed breath of fresh air in a post-Dutch house era of electro house.
The first track on the EP, Sucker, was featured on Erol Alkan’s HARD Summer mixtape last summer, but since then has gone missing. This marks its resurfacing, and boy is it sick. I love the west coast hip hop sampling at the beginning and how it goes straight into a dirty electro drop. The rest of the track tweaks the “sucker” sample and adds in bits of dark electro to create just the right amount of oomph. If you thought that was good, wait until you hear the eponymous track Numbers. It starts off crazy with a big slithering electro synth and just goes harder from there. After the first drop, you’re sent into a whirlwind of kicks, snares, and megavolts of energy. I’ll let you discover the rest of the EP for yourself, but I think you’re going to like what’s in store for you. <3
