Ever since he first caught our attention with his soaring vocals on Disclosure’s breakout hit Latch, UK crooner Sam Smith (pictured) has continued to captivate us through a steady stream of solo tracks, each one better than the last. He’s also captured the imagination of a wide array of DJs and producers eager to translate his smooth R&B stylings for the club crowd.
The latest Smith remix comes from Harry Fraud, who offers a sexy, trap-leaning take on Nirvana. Fraud is best known as the beastly producer behind beats for rappers like Action Bronson, Curren$y, and French Montana. Here he exercises a great deal of restraint, preserving Smith’s massive, uplifting chorus while imbuing the track with a greater sense of urgency through his skillful application of 808 percussion.
Harry Fraud’s Nirvana remix will be included in the American release of Sam Smith’s EP of the same name, out Jan. 28. The EP also features Smith’s single Safe With Me as well as an acoustic rendition of Latch.
