The electronic music scene owes so much of its versatility to social media, and Miami’s hottest new duo can attest to that. GTA was formed when two of the city’s finest producers, JWLS and Van Toth, were brought together via Soundcloud and Facebook. While JWLS was making waves with the moombahton and dubstep crowds, Van Toth had the house junkies at his fingertips; together, GTA has become an unstoppable pair, with numerous releases on many of the scene’s finest record labels.
This month, GTA has already seen releases on three different labels, and while you may have already heard the one from Ultra Records, their Ai Novinha EP from MixMash is surely worth a listen. You can really hear the influence of each artist in Bath Salts, which has both a controlled, progressive approach and a frantic, loud finish. It’s tough to believe that this same group is responsible for People Boots, a tech house track which came out a month ago on Chris Lake‘s label, Rising Music; that track came just a few weeks after their remix of Clockwork’s BBBS was included on one of Mad Decent’s biggest releases of the season.
If all of that isn’t reason enough to hit up their SoundCloud and listen to every single track available, see if their work with A-trak on his last EP will change your mind. Chances are this isn’t the first time you’re hearing from this awesome duo. Just be sure to keep a close watch on these guys–they may be playing in your favorite nightclub sooner than you think.
