An executive at Grooveshark was shot and killed in a parking lot in St. Petersburg, Florida over the weekend in what seems to have been an argument gone wrong in front of a local supermarket.
Local outlet WCJB (an ABC affiliate) reports that Eddy Vasquez, the Gainesville-based company’s director of international sales, was shot in the chest by a man named Andres Torres, who was later arrested at his apartment and the firearm recovered.
Perpetually struggling through copyright lawsuits, the 7-year-old company released this statement addressing the tragic incident:
Grooveshark as a company mourns the tragic loss of one of its employees, Eddy D. Vasquez. Mr. Vasquez was visiting friends and family in the Tampa Bay area over the weekend when he fell victim to a senseless act of violence.
