The nominations for the 57th Grammy Awards have been announced, with various dance music producers up for a trophy at the ceremony, which is to be held on Feb. 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Two awards are bestowed upon dance music’s finest, “Best Dance Music Recording”, and “Best Dance/Electronica Album.” This year’s nomination for best recording include Duke Dumont for I Got U, Zhu for Faded, and Clean Bandit for Rather Be. deadmau5, Mat Zo, and Aphex Twin are included on the album nominations, with Joel’s While (1<2) marks the third time he’s been nominated for the award.
Meanwhile, dance music gets a good look-in for the “Best Remixed Recording, Non Classical” award, with nominations for Tiesto, Kaskade, and Audien, the latter for his remix of Bastille’s Pompeii. Finally, after picking up five wins in 2014, including “Album Of The Year” and “Record Of The Year,” Daft Punk have just one honor this year, with a cappella group Pentatonix nominated for “Best Arrangement, Instrumental or Acappella” for their unusual Daft Punk medley.
