The passing of summer is something we all can relate to as the number of daylight hours shrinks and our cherished memories of vacation begin to fade. One artist that truly is able to replicate these feelings is Arthur Abidzhba. Also known as Arthur Deep and Shiftone, this talented young violinist and producer from Russia is particularly adept at producing strong, mood-setting tracks and remixes.
Arthur initially captured my attention with his excellent remix of In The Summer by Invisible Sounds and Faruk Sabanci. This release was put out on the Turkish/US label Harmonic Breeze, which is known for strong releases by Juventa, Heatbeat, and many other rising trance artists. Remixed under his Shiftone alias, In The Summer is precisely the kind of soothing progressive house that I crave. The sublime combination of Debbie Digital’s gentle vocals with Arthur’s deep pads and flowing arpeggios makes for one amazingly chill track.
Next up, Moments, is a relaxing beach tune similar to what you’d hear normally by Balearic trance artists such as Roger Shah or Kostas Skretas. Originally produced by Audible, this remix takes you for a gentle ride amongst acoustic guitars and peaceful synths.
Of the three tracks on this post, Freedom is definitely my favorite for its unique choice of sounds and the mysterious atmosphere it establishes. Released on LA-based Proton Music, this other-worldly track definitely put me under a spell with its highly emotive melodies. It is a brilliant musical composition and a beautiful expression of Arthur’s musical understanding, as well as being a thorough confirmation of his skills and career potential.
