It was only three short months ago that Bristol bad boy TC dropped his half-time dnb banger Do You Rock?–a surprisingly successful confluence of trap and drum & bass. TC’s unintentional blend of the two styles of bass music was innovative and represented yet another new perspective on the growing genre of drum & bass. Since then, TC has released a massive dnb re-tooling of Caspa’s recent tune On It, but now revisits the ‘trap & bass’ style he introduced with Do You Rock?. Out on Mercury Records, TC’s latest trap-meets-dnb remix of Dot Rotten’s Karmageddon is a tornado of 808 snares, weighty kicks, and furious lyrics courtesy of one of grime’s rawest MCs.
After six years, TC’s ubiquitous anthem Where’s My Money still resonates in clubs all over the world, and his remix of Karmageddon will certainly follow suit. The tune kicks off with a tranquil stanza, but suddenly drops into a roller-coaster of bleeps, heavy bass, and merciless lyrics from Dot Rotten. After a verse of gritty, trap-infused, half-time drumstep, the tune transitions into a dnb break that pushes it into total meltdown. By the end of the song, the layers of trap music are peeled away, eventually revealing a drum and bass skeleton at its foundation. TC has done it again with another lethal combination of trap and dnb. Pick up this remix and the original mix of Dot Rotten’s Karmageddon on iTunes now.
