Goldroom can turn just about any song into a sun-infused, fluorescent dance track. The LA producer continues to thrive with his remix of dream pop duo MS MR’s breakout 2012 single Hurricane.
The track is part of a new EP from the New York group titled Secondhand ^2. The EP is a follow up to their 2013 debut Secondhand Rapture and features remixes from artists like HAERTS, Wet, Nicita, Xaphoon Jones, and Hot Sugar.
With Hurricane, Goldroom replaces shadowy drum kits and stormy synth with an injection of 1985 California sunshine. Clapping beats, poppy bass licks, and sparkling synths from Goldroom wash over MS MR frontwoman Lizzy Plapinger’s glowing vocals while an abundance of gratuitous sax layers filter in throughout the track.
Secondhand ^2 is out April 8. Stream the EP in full on Spotify here.
