With the vast abundance of genres that make up dance music, from melodic trance to hard house to shredding dubstep, it seems as though most dance fans can agree on one thing–we like electro. What makes it so popular? Are there pop elements that make it palatable to many? An energy level that’s appropriate for both the iPod and the dancefloor? Is it simply fun?
German duo Spencer & Hill have given us yet another reason to love electro. With Yeah Yeah Yeah, the duo has delivered a track that’s sure to have universal appeal. A buzz-organ synth with a tightly organized and intricate beat surround the vocals. It’s hard not to like this track; it seems to encompass all the elements that make a great electro song. Ron Vellow and Steff Da Campo provide the remix–a track with similar energy that replaces the organ-synth with a funkier, groovier sample. Which is your favorite? Have a listen.
