The countdown on Gesaffelstein’s website has finally clocked to zero to reveal that the French master-of-mystery is set to soundtrack a new thriller starring Diane Kruger and Mathieu Schoenaerts called Maryland.
When Gesaffelstein posted the lone countdown in July paired simply with a chilling crescendoed drone in the background, hungry fans were curious to know what the producer had planned for them this time. The suspenseful wait was made all the more enticing when the producer posted sheet music to his Facebook, which has now been revealed to be pulled from the Maryland soundtrack as well. (You can hear a rough translation of that sheet music in a fan reproduction here.)
Not many could argue that there is a producer better equiped to soundtrack a thriller film than Gesaffelstein. His expertly crafted arrangements and stark production make for an unnerving–yet strangely pleasing–sound that is rivalled by few others. Included on the track list are his previously released tracks Conspiracy Origins, Wall Of Memories, and Aleph, as well as ten completely new compositions.
You can pre-order the limited edition, double 180-gram heavyweight vinyl here. It comes with the musical scores that have been fittingly printed on X-ray paper. Check out the film trailer and track list below.
