This week on Dim Mak records, South American DJ Haezer dropped his much-anticipated The Wrong Kid Died EP, serving an all you can eat buffet of pure electro-trash. I hope you’re hungry.
Seven tracks deep, The Wrong Kid Died is absolutely nothing to scoff at, especially when you consider just how gnarly each of these tracks are. The release starts off on its gentlest foot, Stars ft. Circe. The opening is as light as you’re going to get on this EP, so enjoy it while it’s around. The track gets serious quick though, dropping into smug beats before you get too comfortable. Rubbernecker opens with 8-bit sounds, but what immediately caught my attention was the rolling beat when the track drops about a minute in. Dirty but dynamic, Haezer complements his slick production with crazy composition. Melody featuring Mike Zietsman is definitely the most distinct tune of the lot, with a ballsy lead that you won’t soon forget. This track is weird, grimy and sophisticated all at once, which sounds like a weird recipe until you realize Haezer’s the chef. The Wrong Kid Died is one delicious EP through and through, so get it while it’s hot!
