Gallant Learns To Fly With Foo Fighters Cover

Soulful ZHU and Lido-cosigned tunesmith Gallant continues to bring the most delightful and welcome of grooves to 2015 with his latest release, a plaintive cover of the Foo Fighters’ 1999 rock hit Learn To Fly.

Though the original is a driving pop/rock smash, this version is moody and undulating with an Afrobeat feel. A lone guitar chord strums against a lower end filled with echoing screams and tom tom drums in a manner similar to Jamie xx’s remix of Gil Scott-Heron’s 2011 cover of Bobby “Blue” Bland’s I’ll Take Care of You. A well-executed cover, this is a majestic track that showcases Gallant’s finesse as a producer as well as the delicate and inviting quality of his vocals, too.

There’s no word as to whether this will be made available for sale, but if you’re in New York City on June 11 he will be playing at Neon Gold NYC’s Pop Up Shop. For more information regarding that event, click here.
