Galantis gives fans six new ways to enjoy Gold Dust in the official remix package out now, featuring new takes from house to trap and more.
Galantis’ ability to pen inspired, high-quality dance pop comes with having as much production experience as they share together. When combined with their approachability, Galantis’ massive hits can be blank canvasses, of sorts, for remixes–a pile of interchangeable, top-of-the-line components with a wide range of potential applications–making them coveted starting points and a common place to hear some of dance music’s most inventive remix work today.
After releasing Hook N Sling’s progressive take in April, Galantis’ Linus Eklöw (Style Of Eye) and Christian Karlsson (of Miike Snow) unveil five new takes on Gold Dust, the second singsong single from their forthcoming debut album, Pharmacy.
Galantis rejoins relatively unknown fellow Swede Elgot, who also remixed Smile, on a joint VIP to kick things off. Next up is Hook N Sling followed by Dutch duo and three-time Galantis remixers East & Young, who hand in a light, floating version set up with bubbly plucks before plummeting into a punchy, piano-driven house take with chopped vocals.
Taking things on a slightly darker route, Hotel Garuda joins CRNKN to craft a bassy club mix that retains the original’s glittering, namesake surface layers with light synth and piano breakdowns between its chunky main sections.
And in the furthest throws from the original, Yacht Club goes with a synth-heavy trap esthetic, while Loosid lets loose a wobbly glitch hop version for two inspiring example of what can be done with Galantis’ work.
