Organisers of Australia’s Future Music Festival have announced that the 2015 edition of their country-wide touring festival was their last, with a brief statement via their Facebook page explaining that “travelling the festival in its current form across Australia simply doesn’t make financial sense any more.”
Born in Sydney in 2006, the Future Music Festival eventually spread to Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide, with the 2015 edition of the festival taking place between Feb. 28 and Mar. 9, and featuring acts like Avicii, The Prodigy, and Darude. Meanwhile, Australia’s other large touring dance music festival, Stereosonic, has announced their 2015 dates as Nov. 28 to Dec. 6, with the event also feeling the squeeze, reverting to one-day shows this year.
