Rafael Frost is one of those names that has popped up pretty consistently over the years. A mainstay at Ferry Corsten’s Flashover Recordings, Frost’s name has been known to come up on a remix album here or a compilation there. One thing is for sure–the guy never ceases to impress me. The last time I brought Frost up on the site, I was doing a review on Corsten’s recent studio mix, Once Upon A Night Vol. 2, which featured his track We Were. It was no doubt one of the most sophisticated and creative tracks in the mix, and I’m happy to report that it’s far from his only great work.
Whenever I post about trance, I like to try to pick out producers who could be real game-changers to the genre down the road. There’s little doubt that the trance world is abundant with talent, but only a few manage to really be original and different while retaining a high standard both musically and technically. I’d include Rafael Frost’s name as one of the artists to look out for over the coming year. Frost’s tunes are often a tad melancholic if not eerie, but empowering at the same time. His recent remixes of Pocket Damage by Eon (aka Ferry Corsten) and Without You by Dogzilla are both rhythmically driving and melodically sublime. I hope you enjoy!
