We’re at the tail end of a long, long streak of going hard AF that began sometime in the summer (we can’t remember that far back anymore) and was bridged into the holidays by an eventful fall season. Now that Holy Ship has ended and The BPM Festival is nearly over, should we finally chill out? Or nah… Weigh your options with Friday Favorites 91.

Twerk | Missy Elliott – Pass That Dutch (Reid Stefan Remix) [Free Download]
Reid Stefan scores with a dynamic remix of Pass That Dutch that offers plenty of bounce, tempo switches galore, and a mean attitude like only Missy can deliver. From twerk to Jersey with fits of juke, Stefan’s latest is a shape-shifting smack on the booty ready to be handed out liberally in any number of dancefloor environments. Pick it up for free here.

Jesse Champagne
Deep House | Foals – Late Night (Solomun Remix) [Warner]
This smouldering late night jam is groovy with a capital “G.” Rich, ambient, and hypnotizing, Solomun’s remix is a deliciously deep twist on Foal’s indie rock original. If the vocals don’t get you (and they will), the silky smooth synths sure will. Pick it up on Beatport here.

Big Room | Paris Blohm – Left Behinds (Enso Remix) [Free Download]
San Francisco duo Enso are releasing their debut EP See Through on LessThan3 Recordings on Jan. 26, so to get you in the mood, they’ve got a massive remix of Paris Blohm’s Left Behinds available as a free download. It’s a slightly more feel-good take on the original, with some enormous big-room riffs and a lean more towards house rather than electro. It’s a shame it’s currently the dark depths of winter because this is just perfect for the summer–so certainly worth hanging onto for the warmer months! Get it now as a free download from Enso’s SoundCloud page.

Nu Disco/Indie Dance | Amherst – New Whip
The internet was fooled once again when a supposed new track from The Avalanches dropped out of nowhere this week. Rumored to have first aired on Australia’s RAW FM, the track was then picked up and spread through the internet troll lair known as 4chan. It turns out the song, New Whip, belongs to an unknown Kansas producer named Amherst. While the music sadly doesn’t signal the return of The Avalanches, it’s still a funk-filled disco number that has kept the band’s fans dancing throughout the week. You can download the track along with Amherst’s other tunes over on Bandcamp here.

Indie/Beats | SoySauce feat. Joni Fatora – Broken Record
Last week, I chose Royal’s beautiful Passenger as my Friday Favorite, and this week, I couldn’t help but feature the latest by SoySauce, the two-part “social artist project” comprising Royal and SoyBoy. Clearly, I can’t get enough of the fluid production and catchy vocal parts that seem to define Royal’s sound, and as evidenced by SoySauce’s past releases, the mysterious SoyBoy exhibits some serious talent as well. Broken Record will be featured on the duo’s upcoming LUNCH MONEY EP, set for a February release.

Megan Murphy
Nu Disco/Electro | Wax Motif – Since I Left You (Original Mix) [Free Download]
Proving that vocal samples from Brandy are never a bad idea, Wax Motif delivers a smooth and highly addictive original track for his first release of the year with Since I Left You. Featuring a synth-heavy beat and plenty of energetic bass, the track showcases Wax Motif’s unique ability to blend elements of electro and nu disco in perfect harmony. The track was inspired by Wax Motif’s split with his ex after moving from Australia to Los Angeles, but don’t worry–there’s never been a more feel-good break up song. Grab your free download here.

Shea Kopp
Nu Disco | Lana del Rey – Brooklyn Baby (Yuksek Remix) [Polydor]
Yuksek creates gold with every production, and this Lana del Rey remix is yet another masterpiece to add to his long list of nu disco and indie dance gems. Ambitious is an understatement when it comes to Yuksek. He is the label head of Partyfine Records, one-half of The Alexanders alongside Alex Metric and is best known as Peter from Peter & The Magician. He has really captured Lana’s free-spirited intention with this remix, calling it a song “about ’70s freedom, beat poetry, jazz, weed, love and amphetamines. I’m free.” You can check out more of Yuksek at his SoundCloud here.

Indie/Beats | argonaut&wasp – Higher Ground [Free Download]
Loving this smooth one from Vermont based indie group argonaut&wasp. There are fewer things better in life than strolling out of work on a Friday afternoon with an entire weekend to look forward to and this song has the feel good vibes and rolling rhythm to help you get to the finish line. Head here for the free download.
