Happy All Hallow’s Day! Whether you’re hugging the bowl cursing the candy corn shots or midway through your walk of shame in your IRL Minecraft costume, Friday Favorites 28 is here to soundtrack it for you and make it feel totally epic.
House | Norman Doray – Filtre (Chocolate Puma Remix) [LE7ELS]
Chocolate Puma may be the most underrated producers in house music, making tracks that anyone with any sort of affinity for 4/4 beats could enjoy. Their remix of Norman Doray’s Filtre, which released this summer, is a snare-laden romp bursting with energy. Here’s hoping 2014 sees these guys move to even higher heights of popularity.
House | Amine Edge + DANCE – Going To Heaven With The Goodie-Goodies (Original Mix) [2DIY4]
I’m definitely gonna have to be good for the rest of this weekend, as another night like last night could earn me a chance to meet Biggie myself. Pick up Amine Edge + DANCE’s notoriously smooth G-house groove here.
Drumstep | Netsky – Without You (Original Mix)
In a switch-up from his usual style, D&B icon Netsky drops Without You, a wicked drumstep track that conjures up memories of Madeon’s Finale (hint: that’s a good thing). As much as I love his regular productions, it’s nice to see an established artist like Netsky step outside of his comfort zone. The best part is it’s completely free to download. Grab it right here, right now.
House | Sam Sparro – Happiness (The Magician Remix)
I had the good fortune of checking out Magic Tapes. I was clicking through them randomly and on Magic Tape 23, I came across his remix of Sam Sparro’s Happiness. It has a slightly dark tone throughout with some slick stabbing synths and ended up being one of my favorite tracks he played all night.
Drum & Bass | Eveson – In My Mind (Original Mix) [Liquid V]
This here is a blazing new track from Glastonbury producer Eveson, appearing on Liquid V Club Sessions Vol. 5 compilation presented by V Recordings boss Bryan Gee. For the uninitiated, Eveson is the epitome of the term artist, not only producing his infectious brand of liquid D&B, but also conjuring the magnificent artwork that accompanies his releases. This particular track comes as an exclusive cut on the compilation, delivered by V sister-label, Liquid V. Going strong since 2005, the new Club Sessions album features tunes from some of liquid D&B’s heavy-hitters, including fledgling producers dRamatic & dBAudio, veteran producer Peshay, and Brazilian newcomer DJ Chap. Make sure to grab this LP here on Beatport.
Electro House | Martin Garrix – Animals (Original Mix) [Spinnin’]
A mate of mine walked past me the other day doing a spookily accurate impression of the lead synth in this summer smash from Martin Garrix. As well as being hilarious, it was also surprising, as I assumed it was quite an underground track that most people hadn’t heard–wrong. Since it was released in June, I was surprised to learn that Animals is now receiving heavy rotation on mainstream radio and is due to be “released” on Nov. 10. This may sound odd given it’s been available on Beatport for over four months, but the “general release” is tipped to see it climb high in the UK charts, with some saying Garrix could even grab the #1 slot.
Deep House | Tiga vs. Audion – Let’s Go Dancing (Maya Jane Coles Dancing In The Dark Remix) [Turbo]
You know it’s going to be a great week when fearless female Maya Jane Coles releases new music on SoundCloud. And you definitely know it’s going to be an amazing week when it’s a remix of Tiga vs. Audion in Let’s Go Dancing. Check out the MJC Dancing In The Dark remix, and pre-order it here.
Garage | Clicks & Whistles X Grenier – Supersick Turtle (Original Mix)
Jazzy chords and infectious drum breaks collide in Supersick Turtle, a collab from Clicks & Whistles and Grenier. Roving forth with simplicity and swagger, this one will be over before you know it and on repeat over and over again. Scoop this track up for free here.
