Welcome to the 20th edition of our, and your, beloved Friday Favorites. Let’s get started, shall we?
Big Room/Trance | Orjan Nilsen feat. Christina Novelli – Hurricane (Original Mix) [Armada]
Orjan Nilsen’s new album No Saint Out Of Me is truly a work of art, spanning trance, big room, progressive, radio pop, electro, and pretty much every other 4/4 genre you can think of. One of my personal favorites is Nilsen’s collaboration with Christina Novelli, Hurricane, an uplifting gem reminiscent of Orjan’s 2011 remix of Talk To Me by John O’Callaghan and Timmy & Tommy. Pick up No Saint Out Of Me here.
Drum & Bass | Mark Instinct – Bad Seed VIP [Free Download]
I’ll let the lyrics paint you your own personal picture of how what I’m spending my Friday morning, but while you gaze into my life, please soundtrack it with Mark Instinct’s VIP of Bad Seed. Free download here.
Electro | Seek N Destroy – Marching Song (IVARR Remix) [Shabang]
IVARR (one-half of the electro duo Blood Eagle) has just released a mega remix of Seek N Destroy’s Marching Song. It’s a pretty heavy electro track that had me dancing uncontrollably in my chair all week. If you’re looking for a song to jumpstart your weekend, hit the play button.
Indie & Beats | Bondax|All Inside [Free Download]
It appears as if summer is officially over (for us east-coasters, anyway). The air is feeling crisp, and I just want to listen to slow, emotional music inside the warmth of my home. Hence, my Friday Favorite this week is All Inside by Bondax. If you’re feelin’ it too, you can download this gem for free via XLR8R.
House | Eelke Kleijn – Ein Tag Am Strand (Instumental) [Spinnin’]
Not necessarily the sounds you’d expect to hear from Spinnin’ this time of year, Ein Tag Am Strand by Eelke Kleijn stands out as one of those timeless beach tunes that doesn’t have to conform to current trends to be relevant, but instead relies on pure, feel-good summer vibes to make itself memorable.
Drum & Bass | Fred V & Grafix – Basilisk (Original Mix) [Hospital]
Originally released on Fred V & Grafix’s Goggles EP back in March, Basilisk is a half-time, drum & bass rinse-out with a powerful saw lead and enrapturing piano motif. Basilisk takes a cinematic approach to what can be construed as an electronic hard rock song at a drum & bass tempo, resulting in one of the most original D&B tunes of the year. Basilisk also recently appeared on the Hospitality Summer Drum & Bass 2013 compilation album. Click here to check out the entire EP.
Deep House | Golf Clap|Waiting [Free Download]
The next greatest thing to come out of Detroit besides techno music and Movement Electronic Music Festival is Bryan Jones and Hugh Cleal of Golf Clap, creators of smooth, refined house music. If you like the sound of garage-meets-deep with billowy basslines, R&B-inspired vocals, and brisk chords, then you’ll love Waiting. The boys are also offering tons of great free downloads from their SoundCloud page.
Nu Disco | Lifelike feat. A-Trak|Don’t Stop (Gigamesh Remix)
Summer may be over, but that can’t stop me from dancing the fall away.Gigamesh’s sexy remix of Lifelike’s track Don’t Stop is the perfect tune to transition you through the many seasons we all await. Wherever you are, Don’t Stop the dancing, and keep the love for EDM high!
Electro House/Progressive House | Marcel Woods – Black Angus (Original Mix) [Musical Madness]
When Marcel Woods dropped Black Angus nearly two years ago, I was hooked on its subtle progressiveness and awe-inspiring big room essence. Woods really made this style popular and appealing long before the big room craze swept over the global EDM scene. Whether you’ve heard this song over a hundred times or you’re about to listen to it for the very first time, Black Angus is a track you’ve undoubtedly found, or will find, yourself humming and dancing to all day long.
Electro House | Steve Aoki, Chris Lake and Tujamo – Boneless (Original Mix) [Ultra]
Dim Mak founder Steve Aoki teamed up with British producer Chris Lake and German house aficionado Tujano to bring us a dark and dirty electro house anthem. Boneless has already proven a major hit, storming straight to the top of the Beatport Top 10 and staying there. The throbbing bass lines and cheeky synth hook have been a mainstay of the summer festivals, making Boneless a perfect tune by which to throw cake. Grab it now on Beatport.
