The Freaks are making their new home on Hot Creations with an excellent release that shows off the label’s diversity and reach. Luke Solomon and Justin Harris have crafted their answer to the modern disco craze, the epic Black Shoes White Socks, with worldly flair and a hint of summer love. Throw in three floor-burning remixes by the legendary Cajmere, Hot Creations’ new favorite wAFF, and tech house veteran Darius Syrossian, and you’ve got an EP that will dance its way well into next year.
Freaks’ original cut oozes sex appeal, as silky smooth vocals glide through a nu-disco groove that feels like an acid trip in a desert oasis. Cajmere aka Green Velvet aka Curtis Jones then turns the disco on its head with my personal favorite of the bunch; a deep, jackin’ bassline and addicting vocal pops are sure to fire up any party. Even darker is rising star wAFF’s techno beast, with massive, driving bass that sounds like it belongs at the Berghain. Buy the vinyl release at Juno, and don’t miss the upcoming 9/10 digital release which contains a tech house heater from Darius Syrossian and a dub version of the original.
