Forbes Reveals 2014’s Highest Paid DJs

Forbes released the follow-up to their inaugural Highest Paid DJs list, with 2014’s list containing very few surprises. One thing is for certain though: the EDM bubble just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The order is largely unchanged, with Calvin Harris (pictured) retaining the #1 spot, though he has added a cool $20 million to his $46 million earnings in 2013, for a jaw-dropping total of $66 million. According to Forbes, this sees him out-earn the likes of Paul McCartney, though he’s got a way to go to top the former Beatle’s estimated $650 million fortune.

Elsewhere the list features no great surprises, with David Guetta ($30 million), Tiesto and Avicii (tied at $28 million) and Steve Aoki ($18 million) rounding up the top five. Interestingly, Aoki’s income has climbed while Deadmau5′ has declined, though he’s still well inside the top ten with an income of $16 million. Current world’s #1 DJ Hardwell has shot into the list with $13 million, and Grammy Award winner Zedd has climbed to seventh in the earnings stakes with $21 million. While Swedish House Mafia have obviously vanished from the list since their breakup, none of their members have jumped into the Top 10 despite all three maintaining high-profiles, though Angello only just missed out with an income of $12 million–good enough to see him reach 12th place.

Forbes includes an explanation of their methodology:

“Our estimates for the Electronic Cash Kings list include earnings from live shows, merchandise sales, endorsements, recorded music sales and external business ventures. Sources include Songkick, Pollstar, RIAA, managers, promoters, lawyers and some of the artists themselves. Earnings totals were calculated for the 12-month period from June 1, 2013 to June 1, 2014.”
