Trap’s dynamic duo Flosstradamus have teamed up with Jersey Club champion DJ Sliink (pictured) to create the bombastic summer jam Test Me (free download here). The classic trap ingredients of 808 drums and flashing hi-hats are all present and mixed in with the vocal repeats and footwork stylings of Jersey Club, a more dance-friendly offshoot of Baltimore Club music. The collaboration is a dream team for purveyors of urban EDM and a genre-mashing test of underground experimentation.
While Floss has been on our radar for a while now, Sliink has been gaining momentum throughout the blogosphere as well. Slinging super hype originals and edits as well as collaborating with some of bass music’s most interesting characters, DJ Sliink has been putting Jersey Club music on the map. His track Gas Pump (free download here) with Barcelona beat maker Sinjin Hawke is a downright banger packed with sexually charged innuendo, helium induced vocal cuts and booty shakin’ beats. It’s as silly as it is sensual and a testament to bass music’s diverse emotional spectrum. Sliink comes to NYC on July 6th thanks to Mishka and The Interstellar Pig. Download his recent Jersey Club mix here and get familiar with this guy.
Also on the Floss tip, the boys beautifully remixed Lana Del Rey’s Video Games last week. Lana’s Theme, shown to me by fellow LessThan3 writer Meshblorg and available as a free download here, will absolutely make you melt. The duo seem to be constantly adding quality tunes to their already stellar repertoire and show every sign of being the breakout act of 2012.
