Once, Jonas von der Fehr, aka Fehrplay, was recognized as the protégé of progressive house perfectionist Eric Prydz. With a series of successful releases on Ultra and mau5trap, as well as the release of his new two-track Rattata / Pandora EP on Zerothree, it’s safe to say that he now stands on his own as a truly tremendous talent.
Both songs on the EP showcase a slightly different side to the Norwegian producer. First up is Rattata, a powerhouse progressive number featuring infectious melodies, ensnaring breakdowns, and a palpable atmosphere. On the flipside is the darker, heavier Pandora, a driving techno cut that sits as one of Fehrplay’s hardest-hitting tracks to date.
In other news, Jonas has quietly begun releasing material under a new alias named Moffe. The new projects see von der Fehr dabble in the deeper end of the dance music spectrum, and if Slip, the first full-length release revealed so far, is an indication of what’s to come, then count us all the way in on this experiment.
