If remixes were like Christopher Nolan’s summer blockbuster Inception, then Fareoh would be Cobb, the savvy dream infiltrator played by Leonardo DiCaprio. The New York producer just released his own remix of Birdy’s cover of Bon Iver’s Skinny Love.
For his remix, Fareoh dives into the multilayered chasm of the English singer-songwriter’s halcyon cover. Fareoh builds off Birdy’s dreamy acoustic picking and melodic vocals to generate an explosive drop that will leave your brain in limbo until he brings it all back down. Despite a number of other producers offering up their own renditions of Birdy’s Skinny Love, the track has never been remixed like this. At only 18 years old, Birdy has already released two successful solo records (Birdy and Fire Within) and was recently nominated at the 2014 BRIT Awards for Best Female Solo Artist.
Fareoh’s remix of Skinny Love will be out Aug. 19 via Atlantic.
