Formerly of Chasing Shadows fame, London duo KillSonik have been on a tear in 2012, notching remixes of Calvin Harris’ We’ll Be Coming Back and Sub Focus’ Tidal Wave, among others. Even Chasing Shadows has been resurrected this year, with the insidious Typhoon showing up in the in the remake of Total Recall earlier this summer. Now, the duo intends to ring in the new year with a bang(er) with their forthcoming pressurized remix of Robots–an electro workout from Gemini’s recent Mercury EP featured right here on LessThan3.
Signed to Chase & Status’ mighty MTA imprint, the KillSonik boys are all about massive basslines and sophisticated sound design, and their chest-thumping sound is on full display in their new Robots remix. The tune starts with a feverish, acid-styled bassline, eventually dropping into a pleasantly discordant melodic phrase. The weighty kick drum pushes the tune to the brink of delirium, relentlessly pounding away in a danceable 4-on-the-floor rhythm. The final result is a remix that keeps Robots‘ musicality and energy, while adding the most menacing synthesis this side of dubstep. Make sure to tell a friend about this one–it’s sure to be making rounds for the new year. Check back here for details on this release or follow Killsonik’s Facebook page to get the full scoop. In the meantime, make sure to pick up a copy of Gemini’s Mercury EP right here on iTunes.
