As the end of 2010 draws near, we’re hit with a barrage of “best of” votes within the realm of EDM. One such vote that stands out is the coveted “Essential Mix of the Year.” In case you don’t know what the Essential Mix is, it’s the world’s foremost respected EDM mix show, broadcasted by BBC Radio 1. The show, now being broadcast for over ten years, is hosted by the equally legendary Pete Tong. Every week, the Essential Mix welcomes the hottest and best DJs from around the planet to strut their stuff for two whole hours. 2010 was a phenomenal year for the Essential Mix, showcasing the ever-evolving sound that is EDM. This year, the people over at BBC have picked the cream of the crop for you to vote for. There was a lot of talent to narrow it down to, but in the end, ten DJs stood out to them. They are:
The competition certainly is stiff. Will the bassy sound of the dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man win? Or will the wobbly sounds of Jack Beats take the cake?
