Toolroom’s recent move towards the techier end of the dance music spectrum has proven to be an immensely popular move for the label, and it continues to attract a stream of fresh and exciting talent. The latest addition to the roster is veteran German tech-head Eric Sneo, who makes his Toolroom debut with the appropriately named Around Summer.
Sneo started his foray into the techno scene way back in 1998, and has since become well known for his live performances, combining DJing with live drumming and percussion. Around Summer is a combination of gritty and crunchy tech house production, booming techno rhythms, and even a hint of funky house in the little organ-style synth hooks. With techno very much the order of the day in Ibiza this season, Around Summer has established itself as a firm crowd favourite on the island, not least at Eric’s appearances at the newly re-opened Eden earlier in the season, and it bolsters Toolroom’s position as one of the leading labels of the moment.
