Lithuanian producer EDU is one of the more prolific underground trance producers on the scene, with releases on the likes of Anjunabeats, Armada, and Flashover, to name just a few. Swedish label Macarize has played host to more of his tracks than any other, and is home to his latest release Be Cool.
On paper, Be Cool is everything you’d expect from full-on uplifting trance, with big saw riffs, solid percussion and a driving bassline. But the reality is quite different, with something about the production style that is almost relaxing rather than uplifting. It’s not just the slower tempo–the 130bpm figure playing a very minor part–it’s more the smooth chords, the fluid arrangement, and a production style that is almost reminiscent of deep house. It’s trance that isn’t just designed to work a club, and that alone makes it something quite special.
Be Cool is out now as a Beatport exclusive.
