Scientists have been doing big things at over at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. The CERN project is a massive undertaking that has been pushing the boundaries of particle physics over the last couple of years. Some scientists are hopeful that we’ll be able to simulate the Big Bang, and consequently, the initial conditions of the universe; others fear that we’ll generate miniature black holes and rip ourselves to shreds–All in the name of the search for the God Particle.
Simon Posford and Raja Ram of Shpongle, with a little help from Benji Vaughan, are on a quest too. They haven’t found the Higgs Boson or changed the state of particle physics, but they’ve assembled a masterpiece of sound here that strives to simulate these conditions through sound. Shpongle is very confident that a listen to the God Particle through a nice pair of headphones will rock your world to the point of temporarily altering your brain chemistry, with an accompanying flood of endorphins. Now, as a gentleman and a scholar, I’ll say, I don’t know about that, but this track is pretty badass. Word on the street is that we should expect another album or two–I for one am very excited.
