Duke Dumont (pictured) calls upon nostalgic influences to round out his Blasé Boys Club Part 1 EP for an infectious result that will have you dancing each listen.
Appearing on the EP are Dumont’s previously released numbers Ocean Drive and Won’t Look Back, both of which have already racked up millions of listens and showcase his talent for infectious rhythms and pop sensibility. Though always crafting tracks with a modern touch, he never fails to pays tribute to his house roots to keep everything versatile and surprising.
Robert Talking takes the evocative tone further to shine a light on one of dance music’s biggest innovators, Robert Owens. It features Owen’s silk-smooth voiceover that has the musician reminiscing of his intro into house music. It’s set to a light, flowing rhythm with guitar-led chords to compliment his phrases with the disco sound that he speaks fondly of throughout the track.
Track three, Melt, is a lush journey with a comforting, four-on-the-floor rhythm serving as foundation for catchy vocal hooks that glide over the surface. It’s tinged with off-kilter broken beats when the central rhythm cuts out to give the piece a touch of UK garage.
Blasé Boys Club Part 1 arrives just ahead of The Duke’s North American tour which will have him traveling through 18 cities in the month of October. Purchase the EP here, and look for his tour dates at his website.
