Streaking newcomer Andre Haglund, aka Drezo, has certainly made a statement this week. The 21-year-old producer extraordinaire just released his debut EP entitled Mandingo on Techibeats Records, and it’s slashing up the Beatport charts like a runaway train. The Los Angelean is coming off of a momentous 2012, having earned a coveted spot in the lineup of EDC Orlando by winning Insomniac’s Discovery Project. Now, the up-and-coming producer has just reached another milestone by notching the #3 spot on Beatport’s Progressive House Chart with his new tune Mandingo.
Mandingo is not the typical, cookie-cutter electro-house fare; its throaty bass and bombastic kick drum give it a minimal and primordial flare often found on the tech side of the popular genre. The tune really develops a sense of groove as the bass transforms into a series of gritty, textured rhythms. With the Mandingo EP, Drezo brings along a 6-pack of attitude on the title-track, and dash of big-room flavor with the prog-house b-side Thump. Both tunes are equally unique, and make a glowing addition to this young producer’s expanding catalog of music. To purchase the Mandingo EP, head over to Beatport.
