The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association has seen record donations thanks to a now-viral fundraising campaign, which clearly proves a cause only gets stronger when you throw cold water on it.
According to NBC, donations made to help fight ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease) have skyrocketed to $15.6 million between July 29 and Aug. 18 from just $1.8 million during the same time period last year thanks to the pay-or-bathe system challenging friends to dump ice water on their heads or donate to the ALS Association. Many have chosen to do both.
As the phenomenon spreads, famous DJs and musicians are creating their own ice bucket videos while also donating the opt-out money and inviting their friends to do the same. This chain of challenges should give you some proper chills:
Calvin Harris Accepts Tiesto’s Challenge
Martin Garrix Accepts As Well
Deorro Accepts Aoki’s Challenge
… and just gets it over with right away by swapping places with Steve.
Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda Also Accepts Aoki’s Challenge
Chad of Tritonal
Dada Life’s Stefan Engblom Accepts Chad’s Challenge
Jean-Claude Van Damme Accepts Vegas’ Challenge
Afrojack Accepts Romero’s Challenge
And just for fun, here are some decent failures we found.
