Diplo is back with yet another A-list collaboration, and this time he’s joined forces with the UK’s don of crossover D&B DJ Fresh for Earthquake.
The track is a departure from Fresh’s typical breakbeat dealings, but at around 160 BPM, it’s right up his alley. The collaborative trap tune features pounding kicks and bass (also right up Fresh’s alley) paired with a high-pitched lead synth with attitude to spare, all held together by the vocal talents of Floridian rapper Dominique Young Unique.
Earthquake premiered May 9th on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show, where it was named his “hottest record in the world.” This nasty little slap of trap is the first single off Fresh’s forthcoming album due in 2014 and will also be featured in the movie Kickass 2, which will hit theaters this summer. The track itself has no official date as of yet, but will be released on Ministry Of Sound.
