LessThan3 favorite Chris Lake has once again teamed up with house legend Marco Lys to sprinkle their fairy dust on another absolutely killer house banger. Hey is a track originally by the Nightriders–an act on Chris Lake’s imprint Rising Music. The original sports a healthy infusion of disco, but the re-edit takes the original and tweaks it into the perfect kind of party track to absolutely electrocute dancefloors. With perfect use of samples, a groovy bassline, and a great variety of energy-pumping techniques, there is no doubt in my mind that Hey is going to be played out all around the world throughout the year.
There are a few pretty interesting production techniques the two use on this one that really sets the track as a cut above. The one that everyone is going to notice is the total cut-outs of audio that occur throughout the track. Usually that effect just flat out sucks, but somehow in this track it is unbelievably fitting. They also have several mini-builds and breaks throughout the track that are built upon very artistic and musical distortion of the one vocal sample they use. Super powerful. Easily the best part of this track starts around 2:53 when one of the most destructive house builds is carefully assembled. This build really just speaks to how long the two have been in the business. They know what formula destroys crowds and they very consciously employ it here without any restraint or hesitation. Well done, guys.
