We’re one day tardy, but we’ve got quite the delivery to make up for it. Prepare your ears for an excellent throwback premiere plus four quality nu disco tunes on today’s Disco Diaries.
PREMIERE: Color K. – Love To Love You
With minimal biographical information and zero press photos floating around in cyberspace, Color K. is quite the elusive producer. However, with one spin of his latest record–and in fact, any of his past productions–those details render irrelevant. The young French producer has given LessThan3 the exclusive premiere for Love To Love You, a delicious rendition of Naughty Girl by none other than the Queen Bee, Beyonce Knowles.
Interpolated from Donna Summer’s 1975 original Love To Love You Baby, Naughty Girl was a standout track from Knowles’ 2003 debut album and has now evolved into a standout track for Color K. He’s fully recreated the track with notably toned-down vocals and his signature bass-y house production, but somehow managed to stay true to the lush and seductive-yet-playful essence of the original. Considering Color K. has previously remixed Beyonce’s Work It Out and Get Me Bodied, we can’t say that we’re surprised at his creative re-manifestation of a third song by the Queen Bee.
Love To Love You is set for an Aug. 12 release via Color K.’s SoundCloud, but you can snag your exclusive free download here today.
Tyler Touché feat. Jason Gaffner – Act Of God (Robotaki Remix) [Egyptian Cotton]
#Electronicbedroom music couldn’t be a more accurate SoundCloud tag for this one. Toronto-based disco/funk producer Robotaki has worked his smooth magic on Tyler Touché’s Act Of God, and it’s truly a gift to any man who’s struggling in that department. Grab your copy here.
Phonat feat. Jolie and The Key – Fire [OWSLA]
I have to say that I was happily surprised to hear such a groovy release coming from electronic music powerhouse OWSLA. After previously releasing Phonat’s Identity Theft and Never EPs with OWSLA, Skrillex described the renowned Italian producer as “the most underrated producer out there,” and we can see why. This tune is due Sept. 18, but you can pre-order it here.
Leland – Full Time (Keljet Remix)
Take production as catchy as Keljet’s and vocals as smooth as Leland’s, and you’ve got an instant hit. The Dutch duo had previously worked with Leland on the equally captivating Sweet Life from their Transatlantic EP, and the product was so satisfying that they decided to team up again for this remix. Stay tuned for purchase details.
Tom Misch feat. Carmody – Wander With Me [Beyond The Groove]
Tom Misch and Carmody established their exuding chemistry in the studio after their beautiful collaboration on the Out To Sea EP, and now they’re back with one their most relaxing tunes to date. The dynamic duo decided to spoil fans with one new track every Thursday through the month of August, leading up to Beat Tape 2 release on Aug 27. Stay tuned with what’s to come here.
