Disco Diaries is back, and I’m not going to lie– this week is fully-loaded with the ultimate nu disco, indie dance, and electro pop treasures. Cheers!
Felix Jaehn feat. Jasmine Thompson – Ain’t Nobody
Chaka Khan’s legacy is back and better than ever with Felix Jaehn and Jasmine Thompson’s interpretation of the 1983 mega hit Ain’t Nobody. Thompson’s Ellie Goulding-esque vocals blend perfectly with Jaehn’s signature tropical house melody, creating one of those songs that you just can’t get out of your head. As with most of Jaehn’s releases, this one’s available as a free download here.
Falqo – Feel Your Love (Original Mix)
The stars aligned when Flight Facilities reposted this track and I happened to come across it while browsing through my never-ending SoundCloud feed. After listening to it once, I got the sudden urge time-travel back to the ’70s just to dance to it at a bonafide disco. Australia’s Alexander White, a.k.a Falqo, provides the funky production and Dennis Dowlut the feel-good vocals for this ultra groovy creation. Cop your free download here.
Miami Horror – Wild Motion (Set It Free) [Vitalic Noise]
Since the releases of Real Slow and Colours in the Sky, Miami Horror was MIA for almost a year. Thankfully, they made a worthy comeback on July 8 with the release of Wild Motion, an easy-listening track that exemplifies Miami Horror’s ability to effortlessly blend pop vocals with a retro indie dance production. Purchase the single via iTunes here.
Les Loups feat. Cybil – Colourblind (Original Mix)
Les Loups are a German producer trio who, according to their Facebook bio, “love good French House, Nu Disco and Electro Funk music,” and as apparent by this track, produce it as well. With the up-and-coming British singer Cybil contributing the soulful vocals, Colourblind is definitely one to add to the disco playlist arsenal. Lucky for you, the free download is available here.
Enrique Iglesias feat. Sean Paul – Bailando (English) (Matoma Official Remix)
After listening to quite a few of Matoma’s tracks, I have to say that he is the ultimate expert in creating quality melodic deep house tracks from the most unexpected songs–this remix of Enrique Iglesias’ Bailando being the latest on that list. If you don’t believe me, just listen to his remix of The Notorious B.I.G.’s Old Thing Back or his mash-up/remix of Leona Lewis’ Bleeding Love with Snoop Dogg’s Gangster Luv. See what I mean? If you’re into this hip hop and tropical house fusion, I’d definitely be on the look out for more to come from the young Norwegian producer, Matoma.
MIX OF THE WEEK: The Magician – Magic Tape 44
If you’ve never listened to one of The Magician’s Magic Tapes, the time is now. After sharing the massive summer anthem Sunlight a few weeks ago, Stephen Fasano, the producer/DJ extraordinaire, has released yet another mix jam-packed with the best in deep disco and house. The only unfortunate part is the fact that he doesn’t provide the tracklist–my suggestion is to have Google search ready because you’re going to want to know these tracks. Enjoy!
