San Francisco’s very own groovehouse, Dirtybird Records, continues to find and share some of the world’s funkiest modern bass jams, with their latest Players Sampler acting as a total palette cleanser as we start getting comfy in 2013.
The 3 track EP mixes both fresh and familiar faces, first introducing Cause & Affect, a seasoned production duo working out of Birmingham who’re bound to leave a lasting impression with their eerily pleasant Don’t Like To Do That. Bouncing basslines, a beat that hops, and a sample worth forcing on your friends all but guarantees success at a party. Next is Dip, a bass-heavy beat from label regular, Worthy. A seriously percussive edge and devout loyalty to the Dirtybird mainstay sample make this tune a straight-up get-down. Justin Jay steps up to close the sampler with Altitude, an incredibly strong showing for the 19 year old producer. Soothing, lucid melodies collide with slithering basstones for a really well-knit final package that’ll have any avid listener stoked for Jay’s Static EP due out in April.
As good as it is, consider this release the hors d’oeuvre, as a full length Players Sampler is expected out later this fall. Head on over to Beatport and grab these first few tracks today!
