Think you’ve heard quite enough of Darude’s classic Sandstorm? Think again. Bright young star Didrick gives perhaps one of dance music’s most overplayed tracks a makeover that turns it into one of the freshest cuts around.
With over 20,000 plays in under 24 hours, it’s certainly a track that resonates. If you’re expecting anything like the original though, be prepared for a shock, as the start-stop samples of the iconic lead are pretty much where the similarity ends. There’s a strong hint of Daft Punk at play, with a bassline that’s funky as hell and a feel-good reinterpretation of the chords that is bound to put a smile on your face.
Best of all, Didrick has made it available for free on his SoundCloud page, so grab it now.
