Des McMahon Gives Major Lazer Major Bounce
exclusive
Major Lazer feat. Ezra Koenig - Jessica (Des McMahon Remix)

The anointed ‘ginger beat wizard’ Des McMahon has just released a brilliant re-tooling of Major Lazer’s Jessica featuring Ezra Koenig, and LessThan3 has the exclusive download right here via Des’s Soundcloud page. Originally premiered by Diplo and then debuted stateside last night on Sirius XM’s #betaBPM by stalwart Sirius DJ Kramer, the tune is a peak-time workout aimed squarely at the dancefloor. With all of the original’s mellow vibes axed, Des replaces the dubby overtones with enough electro flavor to propel festival-sized crowds into delirium tremens.

Sharing very little DNA with the original mix, Des gives the Major Lazer track a complete overhaul, injecting it with resonant 808 bass spates, moombah chirps, and sizzling snares. A sizable portion of Ezra Koenig’s catchy vocal makes it into the remix, but not much else. Combine these elements with some tribal congas, crispy snaps, and splashing cymbals, and the result is a sweat-inducing menagerie of bounce. Make sure to click above to grab the exclusive remix of Jessica and head over to Des’s Soundcloud page to check out the rest of this burgeoning producer’s dancefloor-friendly beats.
