By the time fans present on his live hub had a chance to react with “YES PLS!,” it was already over. Carbon Cookie–an easily copied version of something already mass produced–sports a number of commonly recycled features: the water droplet, the spontaneous synth outburst, a big ol’ awkwardly un-melodic breakdown. Bonus, it takes an inordinate amount of time to do anything, building big and slow with a chest-beating bravado that says, “I know you love this. Imma take it slow.”

After about 30 minutes of work, the sum of the parts laughably adds up to something near listenable and feasibly worthy of competing on its respective charts, suggesting that either Joel Zimmerman is a Rain Man of digital production, or this sound seriously needs to evolve… or a combination thereof.
