Whenever a new style pops up and begins to grow rapidly, we see a plethora of remixes of popular EDM tracks flood the web. While some may criticize and/or see this as lazy or unoriginal, it’s actually well in line with how electronic music has been made for decades; this kind of music has always been very malleable, and because of that it evolves quickly and brilliant new styles are born. However, the trick to success is to pull it off right, of course, and I’ve picked out a few excellent trap interpretations of Deadmau5 tunes that have really stood out among the rest.
First up I’d like to share Zubah’s trap edit of I Remember (free download here). This classic Deadmau5 and Kaskade collab is dear to many hearts, and this Atlanta producer’s relatively soft and simple transformation actually did the original justice. Next is Miami’s Van Toth, who delivered the impressive Trap For Me, a rework of mau5 favorite Move For Me (free download here). The punctual snaps here and popping hi-hats add a fine touch to this smooth bootleg. Lastly we have Drankenstein’s gentle remix of The Veldt (free download here), perfect for kicking back and relaxing to.
