Flume’s ‘OrchestralCrunkwave’ Mix of You & Me
A-grade Aussie newcomer Flume shared his epic and dramatic remix of Disclosure’s You & Me this morning. The self-described “OrchestralCrunkwave” remix features tense builds full of orchestral arrangements and a comparatively more lax breakdown, making it sound nothing like the original, save for the vocal sample from Eliza Doolittle. The guy is getting into seriously uncharted territory as far as his short career is concerned, so keep an eye on this rising star. The full version will be “out soon.”
Goldfrapp Weaves Tales Of Us
According to a press release, Tales Of Us will be the duo’s most cinematic, narrative recording to date, complete with theatrical elements and even an accompanying flick. Filmmaker Lisa Gunning is apparently creating a “compelling and beautiful” film to accompany the album, which will be shown in cinemas later this year.
The release will get its first listen at the Manchester International Festival July 17 and 18 where they will be accompanied by the Royal Northern College of Music string orchestra in a live performance. For those not attending, Tales Of Us will be available Sept. 10. Pre-order here.
Fedde le Grand Shows How Timeflies
Electronic duo Timeflies had their emotive dance-pop single I Choose U reworked by the man with the musical plan, Mr. Fedde le Grand.
Fedde fixed his eyes on the single and came back with a thumping, club-ready remix of the tune that retains the solid elements of the original, like the high-energy vocal manipulation during the chorus. However, Fedde trades in the standard breakdown for a tense tribal house feeling, readying the tune for a mainstage appearance. The remix will likely see time in his bigger sets this summer, like his slot at EDC. Pick it up here.
Pharrell Plans A Beach Vacay
After appearing on two of the most popular tracks thus far this year, Pharrell Williams will make his Ibiza debut this summer at the opening party for Pete Tong’s “Le Grand Bazaar” at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel July 5. Pharrell’s performance will be supplemented by shows from NERVO and DC10 resident Tato. Full lineups have not been revealed for the long-term, but Tong promises appearances from Hot Natured, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, and more. Get tickets here.
Borgore Shows Off His Well-Known Inner Child
Someone call Child Protective Services. Borgore adopted a kid. Either that, or I read the new video for Legend completely wrong, and we’re dealing with a combination flashback out-of-body experience for the Israeli party animal as he gazes back into his childhood.
Either way, the kid gets taken to the school of Borgore, who takes time to Introduce him to his “roadies,” teaches him how to dress, and shows him how to make whiskey cereal. From what I know about Borgore’s typical backstage antics, this video was able to run on an extremely low budget, only requiring some quality camerawork at any one of Borgore’s recent shows or house parties. I won’t spoil the twist ending, but it suffices to say that our mini-Borgore gets fed up with all the partying and girls and decides to make an escape. Enjoy.
