Color us surprised, but we never thought that we would be reporting this tidbit: Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo is bringing his talents back to the big screen with a contribution to the upcoming Mike Tyson thriller Gates of the Sun.
The film will feature Tyson playing himself alongside an “Algerian secret agent who has to destroy an undercover paramilitary organization that plans to strike against the country and its people.” While Guy-Manuel won’t be producing anything as ambitious as the Tron: Legacy soundtrack, he has teamed up with collaborator and Crydamoure co-founder Eric Chedeville to produce a track for the movie together as Le Knight Club, the group’s first release in over a decade.
According to Chedeville, the track will be featured in the final scene of the film.
“Guy-Man has made music in this film. Initially it had to be for a fight scene with Mike Tyson, but now it’s the final scene inside a club. The piece will not be signed ‘Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’ but ‘Knight Club’, the nickname that we used at the time for Crydamoure. The director is a friend of Guy-Man, and he wanted to give him a hand.”
Daft Punk will also serve as the focus of Eden, an upcoming film about the rise of French house music. The film is set to premiere Sept. 14 at the Toronto International Film Festival. Watch the trailer for Gates of the Sun below.
