Burgeoning Manchester DJ/producer Dan O’Donnell, otherwise known as D.O.D., is back again with another big-room house track called Bananas, out on Laidback Luke’s Mixmash imprint. D.O.D. has been quite busy lately, collaborating with Angger Dimas on Dimas’ new album Angger Management, and also co-producing Deorro’s recent tune Play. After turning heads with a sizable remix of Laidback Luke, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s More just over a month ago, the 25 year-old DJ/producer is poised to make a run up the house charts with his latest peak-time smasher.
Appropriately titled, Bananas is constructed to move large masses of bodies across the dancefloor with electro-infused propellant. With a minute-long intro segueing to an explosive drop, this track delivers hands-in-the-air euphoria from the moment the the throbbing bass erupts. A modulated lead synth powers the tune along, while an underpinning arpeggiation provides a splash of variation to keep things interesting. However, it’s the rhythmic nature of Bananas‘ modulated melody and pounding bassline that elevates the track into the stratosphere. Already making it into the sets of Tiësto, Dada Life, Steve Aoki, and Kaskade, among many others, Bananas is now available via Beatport. Check out the video below.
