It’s been a little over a month since we last published a track by LessThan3 favorite Flux Pavilion, and here we are with another absolute monster on our hands. Cracks, featuring vocals by Belle Humble, is a very nice combination of chilled out dubstep rhythms and raw electro synths. And is that a harp I hear in the background? Yes–that is a harp. Wow. The 21-year-old continues to impress with musically interesting pieces that set him apart from many formulaic dubstep producers of our day. Cracks in particular has a deep emotional gravity with a hint of nostalgia that I think resonates deeply within each one of us.
My only slight frustation–nay, constructive critique on this track is that it would have been nice to have a little bit more variety in lyrics, especially considering how fitting her voice is over the melodies. To hear how big of an influence the instrumentation has on the vocal track, check out the original. In fact, my complaint is with the vocal in the original–not the remix in any way. I’m confident that if Mr. Pavilion asked Belle for another rendition she’d jump at the chance. Anyway, not a big deal because the track is nice and varied. It’s a few months old, but we haven’t covered it yet and we’ve got an interview lined up with the young star coming soon, so it seemed appropriate to drop some more dankness your way to get better acquainted. Enjoy!
