It’s been awhile since we’ve talked much about Congorock, the Italian electro star who gained fame through Babylon, which landed in the #5 spot in our top electro rankings last year. In the midst of dabbling with a couple of remixes and touring this past year, the man has returned to what they do best with new single Ivory: filthy, bassy tunes.
Like fellow Italian producers Crookers, Congorock has decided go tribal on us. Ivory is driven by blaring synths that sound like an exceptionally loud vuvuzela. Combined with deep, pounding kicks, Ivory is bound to infect the dancefloor with a serious case of jungle fever. The Bloody Beetroots counter with a very different remix. It’s not quite as bassey; instead it offers a piano sample that gives the remix a more melodic feel along with trademark Beetroot beats. The Beetroot remix is a response to Congorock’s excellent remix of their recent original Church of Noise, also available above.
