Who is Halbro, and where did he come from with these audacious tracks? That’s the question many dance fans asked when his beastly Scientific Devil smashed through podcasts and dancefloors around the world. Halbro is actually the alternate alias of Colombian trousemaker KhoMha–a name fans of Anjunabeats and other progressive purveyors might recognize. This month, he’s out with a brand new EP on PinkStar Records. Whether you’re already familiar with Halbro or not, get ready to bro out to these beats.
We actually posted Halbro’s body-slamming remix of John Dahlback’s Back to the Dancefloor recently. I mentioned Scientific Devil back then, but here it is in full, bass-addled glory. Halbro’s drops are always unexpected; the tracks usually come off as too delicate or progressive, until you’re caught in the open by a mile-wide bassline. While Mystika from his new EP veers into light, cascading progressive house, b-side Fenix plunges deep into the extremely dance-friendly tech trance we’re starting to love from Halbro. Just listen through to the drum outro and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
