It is with great regret that I must order the exorcism of the Irish producer Gavin Mulhall from Dublin; some kind of monstrous evil has corrupted him and he may even be leading a cult following with his dark and hypnotic rhythms. His new sinister alter-ego, Silinder, arose in 2002 and has spread suggestive beats to several record labels globally from Irish label Fudge Recordings to Australian outfit Bellarine Recordings. Even well-known and respected DJs like the UK’s James Zabiela have been caught playing Silinder tracks at clubs and festivals around the world. I am afraid that if his condition is left untreated, I may even succumb to his temptation.
I am particularly concerned about his mashup Destroy The Murder Weapon. This track combines the ominous bassline of Re-Murdered by 16 Bit Lolitas with the haunting vocals of Ladytron’s Destroy Everything You Touch. This cocktail of darkness is frighteningly appealing to the masses and its subliminal message of destroying murder evidence is a threat to us all–hide your kids.
